2022 Audi A3 – Look for the latest redesigned Audi A3 and S3 on the roads to reach new dealer showrooms for the second half of the year with a host of refinements, an uplift in performance and a refined, futuristic design. Its arrival isn’t too surprising, as Audi axed the A3 Cabriolet just two years ago.
With a host of newcomers to the market, the A3 has been pushed to the back of the line. Here’s a rundown of what we know about the new model and what changes it’ll bring.
What You Have to Get From 2022 Audi A3
Audi’s new 2022 Audi A3 Cabriolet continues to benefit from an all-new front end. Under the A3’s new smart and sleek face, you’ll find new front air vents, a signature rounded door handle and new door handles and trim. The same materials that have been used on the exterior continue on the cabin, with new upholstery and carpeting complete the transformation.
The dashboard also receives a host of updates, with the addition of a new color-keyed instrument panel, revised instrumentation and new audio features such as bass and midrange controls.
A key selling point for the 2022 Audi A3 Cabriolet is its sporty, dynamic driver-oriented cockpit design. The A3’s new, 3D TFT digital monitor screen is a real eye catcher, displaying not only current track position data but also speed, distance, time and Lap times. In addition, the a3’s new center console design incorporates an easy to use storage drawer for cell phone, lap top and USB ports.
As a further compliment to its driver-oriented cockpit design, Audi has also fitted new front and rear seat passengers with new floor mats. New, softer and more cushiony floor mats soften the ride for all types of driving, while the new, larger and softer headliner helps to reduce noise pollution from the outside environment.
Other highlights inside the new 2022 Audi A3 include a fully lined and reinforced passenger cabin, including two individual seating sides, individual climate control and premium leather class interior.
Audi has also fitted new front and rear floor mats, both featuring textured surface designs, low-profile torsion spring suspension and dual-layer foam padding. Standard on all models is the new Audi All Season car cover, which provides superior protection against harmful levels of weather.
The standard A3 continues to benefit from extensive research by the company, including revisions to the A3’s ride and handling. In the A3 Turbocharged, the stiffer front knee strike continues, with revised engineering causing the opening of the car to be slightly lower. The new body panels are five millimeters wider at the front, while the aural and road sound performance is improved too.
Additionally, the A3’s powertrain has been further refined to improve efficiency, reliability and emissions. The new A3 Cabriolet incorporates the same essential elements as the standard A3, with the only exception being the powertrain.
Both the standard 2022 Audi A3 and the new A3 Cabriolet offer standard panoramic sunroof, which is also new for the models. The aural and road noise insulation on these roof panes is five times more effective than on any other vehicle in terms of its volume of air flow. As well as this, the front and rear bumpers have been modified to allow easier access and easier installation.
As well as benefiting the driver, this also ensures that the vehicle is much safer when it comes into contact with other cars. However, the new A3 offers added safety benefits when it comes to the driver assistance package, which features LATCH and OPDS.
A major feature on the new 2022 Audi A3 is the all new RS 3 Sport Concept, which completes the Sportline on the A3. This is a six point automated sports styled system, which provides drivers with greater control over the car.
The RS 3 Sport Concept is made up of a high performance alloy wheels, and an aggressive twin spaced rigid strut brace set up to reduce lift, whilst increasing stability. This new a3 RS also incorporates RS style side skirt vents, and carbon fiber rear diffusers. Both the a3 RS and the standard a3 offer maximum power, with sporty RS style bodywork and RS exterior trim.
A further innovation on the Audi A3 is the inclusion of sport suspension on the a3 Convertible, which improves ride quality, chassis geometry and overall handling. Sport suspension is designed to reduce the unsprung mass of a vehicle, improving its overall handling and ride quality. Sport suspension uses lighter and stronger materials throughout, especially the engine and lower control arms.
The result is an improvement in high speed handling and reduced cornering speeds when compared to the 2022 Audi A3 without the addition of sport suspension. Both the standard and RS versions of the new a3 have been developed using high quality, lightweight materials, ensuring that they are fit for purpose.
